Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
PriceGrid is a Shopify app for editing and scheduling product prices. This policy explains what information PriceGrid collects when a merchant installs and uses it, how that information is used, and the choices you have. "PriceGrid", "we" and "us" mean PriceGrid, operated by S Surendranath, a sole proprietor based in India. "You" means the Shopify merchant who installs the app and the staff who use it.
The short version
- PriceGrid works with your products and prices. It does not access or store your customers' personal data, orders or payment information.
- We use your data only to run PriceGrid for you. We don't sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
- When you uninstall PriceGrid, your store's data is deleted when Shopify asks us to (48 hours after uninstalling), or sooner if you email us.
Information we collect
PriceGrid asks Shopify only for permission to read and write products (read_products, write_products). Through that, and while you use the app, we collect:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Store details: your myshopify.com domain, Shopify store ID and store timezone | To identify your store, show times in your timezone, and check your PriceGrid subscription with Shopify |
| Product data: product and variant titles, SKUs, prices, compare-at prices, cost per item and currency | To show and edit them in the grid, calculate margins, and apply the changes you make |
| Price changes: changes you make or schedule, sale start and end times, and a history of what was applied, failed or cancelled | To apply scheduled changes and sales at the right time, warn you about conflicts, and show the History page |
| Staff who use the app: the Shopify staff user ID, and that person's name (or, if Shopify has no name for them, their verified email address) | To show who made each change on the History page |
| Access credentials: the access tokens Shopify issues to PriceGrid for your store | To call Shopify on your behalf. They are encrypted at rest |
| Subscription status: whether your store is on a trial or a paid plan, and when the trial ends, as reported by Shopify | To give access according to your plan. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify. We never see card or bank details |
| Technical logs: requests to the app and background jobs, with your store domain, staff user IDs, timings and errors | To keep the service running, investigate problems and protect against misuse |
We don't collect customer names, emails, addresses, orders or any other data about your customers. PriceGrid uses no advertising or analytics trackers, in the app or on this website, and sets no cookies of its own.
How we use it
Only to provide PriceGrid: showing and changing your prices, applying scheduled changes and sales, keeping your history, checking your subscription, supporting you when you contact us, and keeping the service secure and reliable. Our legal basis, where one is required (for example under the GDPR), is performing our contract with you and our legitimate interest in running a secure service.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your data. We share it only with the providers that run the service for us, and only as needed:
- Shopify: the platform PriceGrid runs on. Price changes are sent to your store through Shopify's API, and Shopify handles billing.
- Railway (Railway Corporation, United States): hosts the app, its database and its logs, in the United States (US East).
- Zoho: hosts our support email. If you email us, your message is stored there.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the service.
Where it's stored, and transfers
Data is stored on servers in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your data is transferred there. We rely on our providers' standard contractual protections for these transfers.
How long we keep it
- While PriceGrid is installed, we keep your store's data so the app works, including your price change history.
- When you uninstall, scheduled changes stop and Shopify revokes our access straight away. 48 hours later, Shopify sends us a request to erase your store's data, and we delete all of it: store details, products, prices, scheduled changes, history and staff names. If you reinstall within those 48 hours, everything is still there.
- Technical logs are kept for up to 30 days, then deleted automatically.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you, and then deleted on request.
Security
All connections use HTTPS. Shopify access tokens are encrypted at rest. Every request from the app is verified with a session token issued by Shopify, and each store can only reach its own data. Access to the production systems is limited to the operator.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how it's used, and to complain to your data protection authority. This includes rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. To use any of them, email support@pricegridapp.com. We'll reply within 30 days. Uninstalling PriceGrid also deletes your store's data as described above.
Your store's customers: PriceGrid holds no data about them. If Shopify forwards us a customer's data request or erasure request, we confirm there is nothing to provide or delete.
Children
PriceGrid is a business tool for Shopify merchants and isn't intended for children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we'll let you know through the app or by email before it takes effect.
